Van A. Carver
Van is an accomplished trial attorney who represents corporations and individuals in white collar defense matters, government investigations, enforcement actions, and complex civil litigation. He advises clients at every stage of an investigation or dispute, from early risk assessment and strategic counseling through motions practice and trial, with a proven track record of success in high-stakes proceedings.
Van has particular experience handling matters involving national security, the U.S. Department of Defense, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and the False Claims Act. He represents clients in criminal and civil enforcement actions and government investigations before the U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Attorney’s Offices, and other federal and state agencies. He also advises clients in connection with internal investigations and regulatory enforcement matters, providing practical and strategic guidance to help them assess risk, respond effectively, and navigate evolving enforcement priorities.
In his civil litigation practice, Van plays a central role in all phases of a case, including developing litigation strategy, drafting key pleadings and dispositive motions, managing discovery, preparing witnesses, and trying cases. He is experienced in handling complex disputes involving substantial legal, financial, and reputational exposure.
Prior to joining LSK, Van was a litigation associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, where he worked on a broad range of complex litigation and enforcement matters. Van also served as a Judge Advocate in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he investigated and tried a wide range of matters and served as first chair in numerous contested trials and administrative hearings. He later served overseas as senior legal advisor to Marine Corps Forces Central Command, providing legal counsel and investigative support for operations throughout the region.
